Sorry for my hiatus a bit. I’m in California, but only for a few more days now but… I’ve been blogging. I’m going to post them here too!!!
So last week I was in Philadelphia, the city of brotherhood. Or something. HAHHAA I lived there previously for a year, and attended the most awful catholic middle school. The only good thing that came out of that experience was the ever lasting friendship made through those awful experiences. So overall kind of worth it? Anyways back to the food, I was there when restaurant week was in!
Lets talk about that first, I went to Lacroix with my Canadian friend who happens to go Upenn! Weird meeting up with my Canadian mates in a different country but it was fun.
Lacroix is located inside The Rittenhouse hotel in center city. As with restaurant week guidelines it was a 3 course meal; appetizer, entree and dessert.
My first course was the Cesar salad! It was good? Crunchy and fresh leaves? I can’t gauge salads since I just love salads not matter what.
Next course I appreciated a lot more! It was duck with a very complimenting raisin sauce. I loved everything about this dish, the texture, the flavors and it was so pretty too! Or at least as pretty as food gets really haha.
The last course was a trio of mini desserts, my favorite was the blueberry tart in the center…because blueberries! Hahaha it was nothing out of the ordinary really but still good. Just didn’t really have that wow factor.
However the brunch the next day completely made up for any lack I sweets I had the day before! The Greeneggs Cafe is a MUST if you’re ever in Philadelphia! Just be wary of the day, we went on a Saturday and had to wait 50 minutes for a group of four! But it was completely worth it!
Yeah, please go if you’re ever around.
I shared a Pork Belly Benedict, Creme Brûlée French toast and red velvet pancakes with my friends. They also got some sandwiches. But their breakfast foods are absolutely marvelous especially their red velvet pancakes.
So lets start with that one!
Now that you’ve seen it I can vouch that it was everything I could’ve imagined but better! It was melt in your mouth and….DELICIOUS. Just please go try it.
Next up the the Pork belly Benedict and the Creme brûlée French toast. I loved love loved the Benedict, it had nice pieces of pork belly, not too fat but not too lean, the right amount of happiness?
The French toast was great…just not as great as the red velvet pancakes HAHAA. I loved the berry sauce, it complimented the dish fairly well!
Extras now are the sandwiches my friends got, and I didn’t try but they looked good. But….we finished the pancakes, French toast and benedict-Not the sandwiches. 😛
Last but not last, I went to Ramen Bar in university city! I had the tonkatsu ramen!
But was a pretty decent bowl of ramen! If you’re ever in university city I suggest you try!
Thank you for reading! ^^
So I was back in Boston and WOOOO new restaurants and old restaurants!
Best new thing was definitely Georgetown Cupcakes! The hype was totally well deserved! Delicious delicious DELICIOUS CUPCAKES!! I was super lucky the day I went they were giving away a free cupcake per order, they even would substitute the one you would’ve paid for if you bought only one (does that make sense?)! Instead I bought one and got one for free! I got chocolate squared and lemon blossom! They were both so freaking delicious. I don’t even know which one is my favorite but seriously… Seriously, amazing cupcakes.
BAM FREE GODIVA OF THE MONTH!
Bon Chon!!! REALLY GREAT CHICKEN! AND BEEF STEWWWWW!!!
HOT POT! So happy. I wanted hot pot for the longest time, like a month long wait… WOOHOO!!
And then my all time favorite restaurant in Boston…DUN DUN DUN…! Gourmet dumpling house! Really it should be t favorite food in Boston because the service there is really crap unless you have a mandarin speaker friend with you( WOOO LUCKY ME!) but yes good food crap service! LOL and they charge you a crazy gratuity (like 25%) when you have a party greater than 5. But yea anyways I LOVE THE XIAO LONG BAOS THERE AND THE SCALLION PANCAKE! That’s it. Everything else is good but those are my favorites!
WOO DONE. TIRED GOOD NIGHT! THANK YOU FOR READING!!! LOVE YOU GUYS LOADS!!!
I’m back and I come bringing a lot o food adventures!
Starting off with an amazing sake tour from the Ontario spring water sake company in the distillery district in Canada!
Though the day I went with a friend unfortunately coincided with a power outage, instead of a full tour we had a great description and story telling of how sake is made by a wonderful employee there!
We tried almost all the different types of sake produced there, instead of the usual 4 tasters we got 6. Probably because we were the only tourers there and plus the power outage. BUT YAY regardless! My favorite was numa-cho!
The side products of sake is of course the rice products. Features above are the DELICIOUS salad dressings made from the rice products. My favorite was the wasabi one. We dipped the rice crackers into the salad dressings to try.
In the end I definitely would suggest going!! Much fun and tipsy happy end story, though I’d like to suggest you eat before the tour because I didn’t. xD
After the tour my friend and I decided to get ramen at Kenzo! TONKATSU FTW!
The day after I went to holiday valley to ski with friends, and we are at tamenbomb? Lodge LOL
Nom nom nom
An then yesterday I finally succumbed to my cravings for Indian food and tried for the first time Kebab and Curry.
LUNCH BUFFET YAYYYYYY
So I recently went back to Toronto for christmas(relatives and such) so on Boxing Day I decided to hang out with my friend Kirill.
We decided to meet at the eaton centre ON BOXING DAY. LOL
Yeah not so smooth planning on our parts. LOL
The whole thing was bad planning but we still had tons of fun!
First we went to Ka Chi for lunch we a beer, we chose the 500ml Sapporo as opposed to the 340ml cause we’re hardcore! LOL at 1pm LOL.
JK I also ate really good soon dobu jigae, they actually had a lot of options but in the end I chose the pork and vegetables one LOL ❤
Ka Chi is pretty freaking good Korean food, I would recommend it to anyone really.
Next we went to our fav and only pub Sins and Redemption!!!
We both had two beers,
I had FRÜLI’S STRAWBERRY BEER AND IT WAS AMAZINNGGGGGGG. I’m in love.
It is the redish pink drink next to me. DELICIOUS OH NOM NOM NOM
Next I had the somersby cider, a though a very good hard cider I was too love struck by the FRÜLI to truly enjoy it!
Fun fact about Sins is that they seem to have all the cups that go with the brand drink. ^^
Hope you all had a wonder Christmas!

Next, MY FAVORITE PHO IN DOWNTOWN TORONTO!!! Woot, from that pho place in Chinatown on the corner of Grange and Spadina! I have no idea what it’s name is…even I’ve been going there since I was a child. It had always been that ‘pho’ place. LOL
Anyways I always get the delicious 101 special pho…aka EVERYTHANGGGGG!!!
Next is some generic restaurant fare from Applebee’s. LOL STEAK AND POTATOES!
Next is…..FROM PANERA! Duh, French onion soup in a bread bowl! Best for my cold!
Finally lastly, something I made for myself..baesuk! Pear steamed with honey and ginger inside! Quite delicious. Apparently it’s good for your throat, I didn’t really care t was just so gooooodd!
My mum also made some delicious oven baked meat thangg… LOL
Happy holidays everyone! I hope none of you get sick with me!
So so sorry for my lack of posts, thanksgiving week in the states last week was awesome.
Full of my moms cooking, so I didn’t really post anything. Instead I’ve gathered them all into one post.
And I made empanadas. I feel likeeeeee I can cook for the first time. LOL GOOD LUCK MARK CHEE YOU GET TO TO THEM WHEN YOU COME HOME.
Lawls Neil you can try them too. 🙂
I plan on making green tea cupcakes for you guiseee on Christmas. Prepare yourselves!
Okay so thanksgiving I had fried chicken, rice, mash potatoes and gravey. AND MY FAV VEGES EVERRR. I have no idea what they’re called.
Next is my one of my favorites of all time. Beef curry made by my mum!!! ❤
Scallion pancake from Tea Leaf Cafe. It’s pretty good! It’s a great snack with my bubble tea!
Tho thinking about it their bubble tea is subpar sometimes. Don’t get the yogurt bubble tea. It literally tasted like water. With yogurt flavoring!
Finally the empanadas I made. Delicious. Or maybe I think that way because it took two hours to make LOL either way, enjoy.
Thank you for reading! 🙂
