BNTgirl x Too Cool for School Art Class by Rodin

Ohhhhh spring’s here and summer’s around the corner, what does that mean?! Contouring/bronzer forever!

Looking for the perfect summer glow/chiseled face can be difficult, I know, and today I’ll be reviewing a Korean Contouring product – Art Class by Rodin by Too Cool For School.

Like always, I have to mention their super cute packaging, they obviously know how to perfect detailing, and it shows in their product.

Now I’ve previously tried and disliked Benefit Hoola, and I currently use NARS Paloma on the daily, just for some background in what I’ve fiddled with. Both super popular contouring kits, and now the TCFS Art Class by Rodin is popular as well, I’ve seen SSIN use it a lot on her youtube channel.

Unlike western faces, I need contouring, or else my cheekbones and nose would be lost to the roundness of my egg shaped face. So I’m quite invested in finding the perfect contouring palette.

Most important thing about contouring is the naturalness, you don’t want to seem really fakely chiseled, or orange. So I was really excited to see that the TCFS kit was a more light contouring kit, so you could build the color up rather than mess up one time and be done with it.

Compared to my NARS kit,  like I said above, it was less pigmented, but still worked well. It looked very natural.

To use the product itself, you can use the darkest color to fill in the hollows of your cheek, then the middle color to blend out. But personally I just swirl my blush/contour brush in the pan and use the three colors together to shade my face.

How do I contour you might ask? Well I’ll upload a brief video later (ft. both my NARS paloma kit and the TCFS Art Class by Rodin), I usually start by finding the hollows of my cheeks and then creating a 3 figure shape on my face afterwards.

Overall I find the TCFS Art Class by Rodin to be a fine contouring kit especially for asian skin tones like myself. I didn’t find the color too bronzing/orange/fake tan ish and was extremely natural. No make up make up, amiright? You want to look flawless without too much effort. I only really used 3-5 products in this look and it was mostly by Too Cool for School.

I would recommend this as a beginner contouring tool as it’s easy to build up in color naturally without looking fake, so it’s cute and easy to use.

I’d rate this a solid 8/10. Easy and practical to use.

As a beginner product I find it a nice product to use and if you’re interested you can buy it herefor $20.

BNTgirl x KONAD Classic Jeans Nail Polish

Bonjour tout le monde! (Hello everyone!)

I’m back again with another Konad product, today I’ll be reviewing their Classic Jeans Nail Polish in shades Midnight Blue Jeans and Turkey Blue Jeans(yum turkeys, I want a sandwich now).

I was excited about the two colors that I got because my favorite color is actually blue, so I was pretty excited about two blue shades. A sexy dark blue and a more spring-y blue shade. Wow very hip, much trendy.

It’s funny because I’m very a very anti-pants person, most of my closet are yoga leggings and dresses. But I found this to be a fun nail polish regardless.

When I first saw them I was pretty confused because they were described as a jean like nail product but on the outside it looked glittery. I found out later it dries out in a cool matte and textured polish. Quite a fun transformation.

To my surprise the nail polish themselves are quite opaque, and only needed one coat for a full polish look, so it was a really easy DIY. Bonus –  they look good.

Note to all people applying nail polish on top of wood surfaces; use a paper inbetween, nail polish remover will ruin the veneer of the wood.

On my hand I have midnight blue on all fingers except my ring finger for which I used the turkey blue as a accent color.

It’s easy to apply, it lasts quite a long while, and it looks cool.

So if you’re looking for a trendy easy nail polish (and you’re sick of OPI/Essie) free feel to try a Korean Nail polish brand – Konad!

BNTgirl x KONAD Stamping Nail Art

Sometimes I’m sent things I’m pleasantly surprised with.

This time was no exception to that rule, I had literally never heard of stamping previously since I get my nails done at a salon, since gel lasts forever, a month, and I don’t have to worry about it chipping ugly. So I had mixed feelings at the beginning when I saw this product; confused, curious and finally captivated.

Today I’ll be reviewing KONAD Stamping Nail Art Kit!

Nails are the final touches to a woman, you can see her life in her fingers, or that’s what I believe. Short, almost touching the skin? Violinist or Pianist (known by experience), Neon colors, raves. French manicure, classic perfectionist. Your hands and nails tell a lot about the person, especially if they catch your eye. I think they’re the type of final touches that mostly only other women notice but are still appreciated.

I love DIYs. I love things you do with your hands (avid crochet/knitter/drawer) and I was pretty excited about this product once I had figured it out.

As you’ll see in the video, once you get the hand (haha, get it punny) of it, it’s no problem at all. The only problem initially was, speed. You had to act relatively fast in order to produce good results with the stamper, but with some time I got in the hang of it.

The instructions are quite literal since you have to be really quick, step 1: apply polish, step 2: scrape off excess, step 3: stamp on, and step 4: stamp off onto nail.

As you could see in my video, repeat steps 1-4 and you’ll be fine.

Best part? Even if you mess up you can quickly rub away lightly with nail polish remover and start over without ruining your base polish!  Super easy.

It lasts as long as your polish lasts, the design itself stays on once you put the top coat on, it won’t budge and that’s perfect.

Cute designs with minimal effort, and I even got asked by someone where I got my nails done (at home hehe)! Perfect nails done by yourself at home without a salon visit.

I’m giving it a 9/10 on the Doris Scale of Awesomeness, it’s easy and fun!

You can get it here  (~$14) or at their actual site here.

[BNTgirl Collab] 4MINUTE – Cold Rain (Gayoon) Make Up Tutorial

Good morning guys (10:25am here).

Today I’ll be doing a make up tutorial wooooo!

Inspired by 4MINUTE’s Cold Rain mv, the BNTgirls decided to each do a make up look based off of a group member in the MV. I got Ga-yoon, dark lips on point.

Check out the other BNTgirls’s links;

Joanne’s Hyuna, Kim’s Jihyun and Bella’s So Hyun.

So let me take you guys on a winter wonderland, err, I mean show you how I did this (see picture below or video).

Alright let’s do this.

Using the Wayne Goss method for dewy skin, powder then foundation, I used;

I applied the foundation using my beauty blender for a more even natural finish.

4minute cold rain.Still010

Next using the NARS contour kit in Paloma, I contoured my face, creating. a more chiseled face, contouring my cheek bones and around the face.

Continuing with the contouring, I used my YSL Touche Eclat (2) to highlight portions of my face, as shown below.

After that I did my brows using:

Next up is the most intense part of the tutorial, the eye make up. Bling bling~

For my eyeshadows I used Urban Decay’s Naked2 Palette and theBalm’s Nude’tude Palette.

I first primed my eyes with Urban Decay’s Original potion primer all over my lids to make sure the shadows intensify and stay put all day.

Next I put NAKED 2 – FOXY all over my lid.

After that base it’s basically a gradation, or a build up of color that looks natural. I like to create a sort of smoked out outer corner V shape (like shown below in the big picture).

First off I’m going to use NAKED2 – TEASE in the crease of my eyelid and then with a pointed shadow brush I’m going to build the gradation (brown hues)

4minute cold rain1

4minute cold rain.Still020

And then I’m going to put a light shimmer on the middle of my lids NAKED2 HALF BAKED.

After that I’m going to go back in with a lighter more skin colored highlighting shade ( NAKED 2 – BOOTY CALL) in the inner corners of my eyes and on my lower lash area creating a aegyo affect (supah cute).

4minute cold rain.Still018

After that I’ll highlight my brow bone again with NAKED2 – FOXY and tightline my eyes using CLINIQUE – GEL EYELINER TRUE BLACK.

After that my camera died, awks. So I had to charge it, in the mean time I put on false eyelashes and mascara.

4minute cold rain.Still023

Using Benefit’s Boi-ing (01) I covered up my lips to help create a finer lip in the end game.

Starting up the lip game, in this look the lipstick or the lips are the statement piece. All focus should go on the lips so a little prep goes a long way.

I’ll be using LANCOME – COLOR DESIGN in PRETTY BURGUNDY for my lipstick shade.

By using the X mark technique for the top of the lips, you make a more defined top lip.

With the lips being the statement piece of the look it never hurts to go back in with a concealer (in my case YVES SAINT LAURENT – TOUCHE ECLAT 2) and make sure the lips are on point.

After that, we’re finished. Ta-da, my 4MINUTE Cold Rain Gayoon look is finished, let me filter it up and we have the finished look!

BNTgirl x doctorcos Amino Acid Hybrid Sheet Free Mask Advanced

Gobble gobble, happy Thanksgiving everyone!

If you’re international, Thanksgiving is a holiday where most students have a week of break to go home and celebrated what we’re grateful for. And buy a lot of things we don’t need on Black Friday. Or this year to buy a lot of things at 6pm and eat dinner really early at 3pm.

I’m writing this while I have a break from cooking.

And I’m sad to say this is my final BNTgirl review, maybe ever.

I’m reviewing my favorite from the box, saving the best for last (amiright), Doctorcos Amino Acid Hybrid Sheet Free Mask.

Highly sought after and raved about, in Asia and beyond, I was nothing but excited when I got this to try.

So you’re probably thinking the same thing I was thinking when I read the title of my post, “what the heck is a sheet free mask?” What does that imply anyways, don’t all masks have disposable one time use face masks you put on you face for 30 minutes???

Like seriously, what the heck. Haha. Little did I know I would soon come to the same conclusion every other bblogger had before me. Sheet free masks, this is the future. This is awesome.

By having no one time use only disposable masks, we reduce waste, energy and effort of putting on a face mask. 100% lazy girl in me is screaming inside, “Yes! Yes….YASSSSS!!!”

I used to set aside 30 minutes a week just so I could make sure my face mask would stay in place, I used it as sort of a “me” time. But now I don’t have to set aside 30 minutes of my life, put on a mask and take it off. I can just put it on at night and ta da. Skin is happy, face feels fresh, hydrated, and even rejuvenated.

Okay now here are some the of the facts of the mask, now that you know I absolutely adore it, you may also want to know what it does for your face. On a deeper level, if you know what I mean.

It’s suppose to help; whiten, moisturize, pore refiner, tighten, wrinkles, nourish and overall skin health.

You can use it as a overnight mask (1mm-3mm thick layer), regular face mask (<1mm), or even as a base (light later) for your make up.

Now you may think, “1-3mm thick for a overnight mask? How can you even do that.” Simple, you tap it onto your face lightly.

Second thoughts afterwards may be, what on earth does amino acid hybrid mean???

Well I had no idea, so I decided to look it up for you guys. Apparently the amino acids help by instantly moisturizing your face, and help promote skin turn over rate. Cool.

Third thoughts could be, what does it smell like then, it smells like a luxurious face mask akin to Leader’s face masks which have those nice gel masks. But the scent is lighter and softer on your nose. It’s great. No true floral scent, no irritating overwhelming scents either, it’s truly fantastic.

Anyways, now that you get the gist of what this amazing product is and how it works, it’s your turn to give it a try. Maybe tomorrow, maybe sooner, MAYBE TONIGHT! I highly recommend it.

Goodbye regular sheet masks, I won’t miss you.

I’m giving this a 10/10. Perfection.

You can get this here for $19.99, if you’re interested a mask free happy life, come to the dark side. We have less trash and more happiness.

Interview Make Up Tutorial!

Hello everyone, I’m back! Sorry for the almost two month long hiatus. I swear I’ve been secretly taking pictures and stuff… I’ve just been in a sort of slump/busy school year, gah.

Anyways I’m back by request of a friend to do interview make up! It’s really a no make up make up tutorial but matte, you don’t want to seem dewy/oily for your interviews! You also want a make up regiment that doesn’t take more than 10 minutes. Since you’ll be preparing yourself with materials before the interview to prep yourself. This should optimally take less than 10 minutes.

I know it’s interview season now, so good luck everyone! I’m hoping to do well also…!

It’s a really simple tutorial, that makes you look ready and fresh faced for your interview. Basically it makes you look like you’ve actually had 8 hours and sleep.

Alright so I’m going to also do a written tutorial of how to my interview make up, just in case you’re really busy and you don’t have time to watch a 4 minute video or you want a brief refresh. I’m also going to list my products here! 🙂

1. You start off with a sleep deprived face. So the first step is to prime + moisturize your face, primer + lotion + chapstick if you’d like.

I just used my Burt’s Bees chapstick (my fav) and some face lotion to moisturize (Fresh’s face lotion).

Aww yiss look at my tired naked skin, don’t worry you’ll look fresh and ready after my tutorial!

2. Second step really is to conceal EVERYTHING. Eyebags, pimples, red spots. Everything. You want to seem like you aren’t freaking out about this interview, that you’re ready….So ready in fact you look like you slept like a baby last night, but you didn’t.

I’m using Missha’s Under Eye Concealer, it was a pretty sweet deal at $5. I’m using it today instead of my higher end products because those are pretty time consuming, but I suggest if you do have more time than 5 minutes to do your interview make up, use your higher end ones.

Remember to use only your ring fingers when blending away the concealer under your eyes! We don’t need a early onset of eye wrinkles.

3. Step 3: Is to use a MATTE foundation, really stressing the matte-ness of it. You don’t need to look so fresh and dewy, you’ll eventually look oily. Because let’s be real, when we’re stressed we sweat and produce oils on our face. Best method is preventative. So let’s go with a matte foundation, yes you may not “glow” but at least you won’t be oily.

I’m using Lancome’s Dual-Finish Powder Foundation in Porcelain.

Basically I just buff it into my face using a large powder blush, light but even coverage. Feel free to layer in some more if you need high coverage.

Step 4: I like to add some blush with a light hand, because I’m already pale, I don’t want to seem sickly, so I like to add in a nice flush of color. Choose a really natural shade, I wouldn’t suggest a suggestive blush like NARS orgasm…yeahh…no. Go with something neutral and that looks natural.

I’m using Mood Exposure from the new Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush palette (review coming soon this week, huzzah). With a light hand I sweep it from the apples of my cheeks to the side of my face.

Interview.Still007Step 5: Is really optional, I wouldn’t suggest heavy contouring but maybe some light “natural” contouring. You don’t want stage make up here, ladies.

I’m using NARS laguna, and I just sweep it under my cheek bones lightly and around my face.

Step 6: Tightlining, What tightlining your eyes really is, is going over the spaces between your lashes with a eyeliner, or in my case gel eyeliner, to make your lashes seem fuller. It’s a super natural technique so it’s very usable for interview make up. I even slightly winged it out from my lash line to make my eyes seem bigger.

I’m using Sephora’s Gel Eyeliner in Brown. Remembering natural no make up make up!

Interview.Still010 Step 7: Is again optional. So If you don’t have time really, skip it. Curling your eyelashes + mascara, shouldn’t be really really important.

I’m using Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara, remembering you’re not here on a date, but here to make a good first impression for your LIFEEEEEE…..So kind of like a date but more serious, we’re not trying to flirt our way up in life, show your skills…err you know book wise.

Step 9: Is the last step, to use a natural MYLBB (my lips but better) lipstick, or you can stick to your chapstick, whatever floats your boat. I just like to have my lips a even coverage. Completing my look, yeah?

I’m using NYX’s soft matte lip creme in Amsterdam.

And ta da! You’re Finished!

Interview.Still014Finally some tips from me, a asian girl, to help you with your interviews.

A. Don’t wear crazy nail polish (like myself in the video)

B. Be confident about yourself, I’m not talking overconfidence, but you know…confident in yourself, you already got the interview! They’re impressed with paper you, you just have to impress them with you-you.

C. Lastly, don’t panic. Cold sweats meh, keep calm and zen.

D. Good luck everyone!

[FOTD] Mr Mr inspired!

Good morning lovelies!

Lately I’ve been inspired by SNSD’s MV MR MR. I’ve been loving their dewy skin look and on point lips. They make people look at their lips, and they look is so fresh that I have to do it!

So here’s my finished look, if you want to see how I did it continue reading!

Start off with bare skin, MOISTURIZEEE ITTT. Because it’s really dry and winter-y still but I like to pretend it’s spring.

Next I used;

Lancome La Base (primer)

Lancome Teint Miracle in Buff 2

Benefit’s Boi-ing (01)

(***lol it was really sunny)

After my base I did slight contour and blush anddd my brows!

Soft brows using Clinique Brow Powder in Soft brown!

NARS Orgasm/ Laguna for blush/contour

After that I did a slight winged eyeliner and tightlined my eyes.

Mascara – Lancome Hypnose Drama

Finally I finished off with Benefit’s Watts Up! to highlight and give off my dewy skin look. And on my lips I’m using Antwerp from NYX matte lip cream (my spring favorite)!

Gradient Lip Tutorial Ft. OCC Lip Tar Memento

So after my previous post I got a few requests on how to do my lip, so here it is! 🙂

How I do a gradient lip like this:

First start off with nice bare lips with a chapstick of your choice, I’m currently using EOS lip balm in tangerine. (Got my no make up make up on today)

Next hide those lips with your favorite concealer- I’m using Benefit Boi-ing (01)

Next I’ll show you how I personally make a gradient lip. By dotting the OCC lip tar and then using the lip brush to feather out out the color I create a more natural gradient.

And finally just apply a clear lip gloss, for that nice shiny lip effect!
